PPC Master Planner

Multi-Level Procurement Planning for MRP Experts

Multi-Level Procurement Planning

Ensuring the right material is in the right place at the right time is a cornerstone of efficient production. The PPC Master Planner supports the MRP controller in achieving exactly this — across every level of the value chain.

Whether it’s in-house production or external procurement, the PPC Master Planner ensures all finished goods, semi-finished components, and raw materials are scheduled in line with demand, availability, and capacity. With its intuitive interface, powerful filtering, and real-time simulation features, it delivers a clear and responsive planning experience.

Business Impact

With the PPC Master Planner, procurement planning becomes:

  • Proactive – anticipate bottlenecks and shortages before they impact production
  • Transparent – see every level of the supply chain in one consistent interface
  • Responsive – adapt quickly to real-time changes in demand and capacity
  • Efficient – reduce manual effort, increase planning reliability, and avoid unnecessary stock levels

Whether used standalone or in combination with other modules of the Production Planning Cockpit, the PPC Master Planner enhances SAP’s standard MRP processes with unmatched clarity and control — across materials, levels, and plants.

Integrated Material Requirements Planning (MRP)

The PPC Master Planner builds on SAP’s robust standard functionality for Material Requirements Planning (PP and MM modules), seamlessly enhancing it with advanced usability and planning tools.

It provides a consolidated, multi-level view of all MRP elements:

  • Planned and production orders
  • Purchase orders and requisitions
  • Stock transfers
  • Inventory and availability data

This ensures that the MRP controller has full transparency of demand and supply relationships — and can act decisively to secure material availability while keeping inventory levels optimised.

Key Features

All relevant receipts and demands — including quantities and timing — are displayed in a configurable interface familiar to SAP users.

  • Period-based display of material flows
  • Customisable filters, layouts, and sorting
  • Direct visibility of available quantities and exceptions

Targeted alerts can be set for:

  • Late or past-due receipts
  • Material shortages
  • Capacity overloads
  • Deviations from planned demand or delivery dates

By focusing only on critical issues, the MRP controller can respond quickly and efficiently.

Demand and supply impacts are correlated with capacity loads to ensure that overloads are identified early and resolved proactively — even across multiple production levels.

Receipts are dynamically assigned to demands, forming order networks even in anonymous stock production.

  • Understand which demand each receipt fulfils
  • Identify supply delays and fast-track rescheduling
  • Increase planning confidence and visibility

Enhanced Planning Capabilities

Master schedule items not automatically handled by the MRP run can be planned manually, directly in the planning screen.

  • Fast entry of required quantities into the correct periods
  • Trigger a simulation-based automatic run for subordinate levels ("MRP Light")
  • Align both high-level and dependent-level planning in a single step

MRP proposals (dates and quantities) can be adjusted directly, allowing the planner to fine-tune procurement in line with evolving requirements or priorities.

Planners can simulate various changes to supply and demand — including quantity shifts, date changes, or delivery disruptions — and immediately see the impact on:

  • Capacity workload
  • Subordinate levels in the production network
  • Material availability

This supports proactive decision-making and strategic scenario analysis.

Graphical dashboards provide an at-a-glance understanding of the current procurement status and critical KPIs, enabling faster orientation and prioritisation.
