Memorandum of Understanding
between CAE and msg systems ag
CAE and msg systems Join Forces for Future Bundeswehr and NATO Initiatives
Over recent months, msg systems and CAE have developed an increasingly close collaboration within the defense sector. This cooperation was initially driven by shared business opportunities with the German Armed Forces (Bundeswehr), where both companies identified operational touchpoints and highly complementary capabilities.
Against the backdrop of growing requirements for operational readiness, interoperability, and digital sovereignty, integrated mission support and training solutions are becoming increasingly important. The cooperation between msg and CAE aims to combine the strengths of both organizations and develop forward-looking solutions that address modern defense and security challenges.
The strategic rationale behind the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is to systematically unite the complementary capabilities of both companies. While msg brings extensive expertise in digitalization, system integration, software engineering, enterprise architecture, and cybersecurity, CAE contributes its strong market position and proven capabilities in simulation, training, mission preparation, and operational military applications. Together, they create a more robust and comprehensive portfolio for future Bundeswehr and NATO programs. The combination of these complementary strengths establishes a solid foundation for modern, interoperable, and future-ready defense solutions.
Under the partnership, both companies will jointly address IT-enabled mission support capabilities for the Bundeswehr and NATO, ranging from interoperable system landscapes and digital command-and-control solutions to simulation-based training and decision-support systems. The collaboration also covers integrated mission planning, Live, Virtual and Constructive (LVC) training concepts, and synthetic training environments. The objective is to develop joint approaches for complex, multi-domain operational scenarios that sustainably enhance military readiness and effectiveness. The MoU provides the formal framework for this long-term cooperation.

For msg, the partnership is about much more than pursuing a single opportunity. Instead, it represents the establishment of a strategic industry partner that complements the existing portfolio and further strengthens msg's position in the defense market. Internal discussions have particularly highlighted CAE’s outstanding reputation within the defense sector and its established market presence as significant added value.
The MoU should therefore be viewed as a strategic partnership aimed at jointly addressing market opportunities, developing future defense capabilities, and strengthening competitiveness in serving Bundeswehr and NATO customers. Building on ongoing collaborative activities, the agreement lays the groundwork for a long-term industrial partnership. At the same time, it supports the development of modern, interoperable, and resilient solutions that enhance operational readiness while contributing to technological sovereignty in the defense domain.
